Wood Burning Time Lapse: Saint Joseph the Carpenter

This was a long one – a bit more than 60 hours – despite being only about the size of a standard piece of paper. This took about the same amount of time as the map of Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings, even though this one was arguably less intricate, but shading large sections simply takes time.

Fun Fact: Using one of the smaller pyrography tips and moving in swirls for the shading in this one helped create the patchy textures in the cloth fixtures. This texture brings out all the fabrics of the background curtains and clothes, whereas I used straight motions on the shadows around the work bench to create a cleaner, more manufactured look.

As always…Adventure on!
